Sunday Stash Report, April 18, 2021

I have Emma's shower gift done, wrapped, and ready to mail first thing tomorrow.  There should be no problem arriving in time for Cara's Virtual Baby Shower on Saturday.

This is how Kanary turned out.  I'm am very pleased and know that Cara will be for Emma.  I love all the low volume neutrals that have gone in to its making.

The quilting turned out perfect too.  Two close ups for you to identify the bird amongst the circular designs.

Purchases from RebsFabStash and Bella Rose Quilts arrived during the week.  The FQ Bundle with the new Man Cave collection plus a FQ from the new Thomas & Friends collection.  These are a stash enhancement as there are no particular plans for their use.  The blue FQ will likely find its way into Winter Blues project and the others who knows.  The Bella Rose Quilts purchase gives me what is needed for Witch's Night Out that I am anxious to start.  Bella Rose Quilts has all fabrics All Hollows Eve if you are in need of them.  Prices are great!

April BOM

May BOM

April's Sunshine Quilt Guild virtual meeting was Tuesday evening.  We had a Naturescapes presentation by Nanette Zeller that was good.  I am not much interested in this type of quilting, but it was interesting.  The UFO Challenge that I have been coordinating has one more month to reveal (#1).  The hearts table runner called Kupid's Kisses was my #6 reveal this month.  The BOM was won, but not by me.  I do have an interest in winning next month's BOM.  We did play the Guess How Many Scraps game this month with three winners as two tied for guessing the closest.

I have nothing to claim as used this week, but once again I am adding.  I have a few more fabrics to arrive this week and then I plan to seal up my wallet unless I positively need something!  I have been pulling cat novelty fabric from my 2 1/2" strips to create the piano key border for the Kandy Katz project that is fully in work now that my commitments are satisfied for the time being.  The new sewing machine is in use.  I have some learning to do and a bit of a wait on the insert for the sewing cabinet to arrive.

Binding sewn down on Krooked Kreek (2021 UFO).  Sleeve and label next.  Loved this 2020 Winter Mystery Grassy Creek by Bonnie Hunter.  This finish makes me eager to attack another of her projects I have in my queue to finish....Appalachian Autumn and Winter Blues.  Appalachian Autumn is on the 2021 UFO list.

These two are ready for trimming down and finishing them off for Mom.  Kupid's Kisses (on the bottom) is a 2020-2021 Challenge with Sunshine Quilt Guild.  Its number hasn't been called, but I'm ready.  Kadbury (on the top).

These two fabric purchases came in the mail today.  Very satisfied with the pink FQ bundle.  Kadbury used up my pin stash so of course I had to reseed :)  I am trying to match the green and the yellow to the John Deere panel.  Satisfied with the yellow, but the green is too blue and dark.  Will need to try again :(

So what is going on in your sewing room?

Sunday Stash Report, February 21, 2021

This week I have two finishes.  This first one is a 2021 UFO that will be called Kwestion.  Pat Yamin pattern called It's A Mystery.  Kerry and I took one of her Mystery Classes at 2020 Road to California.  I have a long time batik fabric, from either Melissa or Loretta, that ends up perfect for this project.  I'll use the same blue in the front for the binding.  Kerry has this one now for quilting.

My second finish is a second Cupid's Bow.  It appropriately will be coined Kupid's Kurtsy 2).  With a little ingenuity there was enough between scraps from the first Cupid's Bow (Kupid's Kurtsy) and my meager red stash to pull it off.

I also had fun every day heading to my mail box...  Starting from the top the yellow FQ bundle arrived from Fat Quarter Shop, wools from Midway Wool, a promo cute sewing container and the Acorn pressing product from Stitchin' Heaven, and Arizona Hatch Pepper seasoning from Kerry that came in the box that brought back Krooked Kreek all quilted.
Sunshine's February BOM is coordinated by Hallie.  She has us making Bonnie Hunter's Little Monkey blocks.  I dug through scraps and found HSTs that Debra gifted me some time ago that were perfect (see the monkey fabrics?).  Hard to resist making more of these blocks.

In the meantime I am reading the sleeve, binding, and label for Krooked Kreek and several nights in front of the TV.  More to share with you tomorrow on this project.  Right now I am thinking of what project to tackle next!  Kupid's Kisses and Kadbury are on their way back from Kerry after being quilted.  There are lots of TV nights ahead.

Before closing wanted to share a photo of Kamel Kountry (Old Tobacco Road by Bonnie Hunter) that was gifted to Ty and Sharon this past week.  It was meant and is perfect for their brown/tan travel trailer.  They were so surprised and thrilled to receive it.

5 Things You Didn't Know About Valentine's Day

    1. St. Valentine Wasn't Just One Person
    2. Valentine's Day Became an Official Holiday in the 1300s
    3. Cupid Has Its Roots in Greek and Roman Mythology
    4. Americans Send 145 Million Valentine's Day Cards Each Year
    5. Nearly 6 Million Couples Get Engaged On Valentine's Day
If you didn't send a card I probably have you covered.  I love sending cards.  They must have a cat on them of course to make them "sendable" from me =^.^=   I really looked hard for a 1st Valentine's card for Greyson, but no luck.  It was a big disappointment for me.  Perhaps if I'd been able to get to all the stores where the cat cards are in abundance it would have been there for me or should I say Greyson.
This past week I finished all three of my planned Valentine's projects.  I was very excited this could happen.  All three are in need of Kerry's Quilting touch.  Each will be ready for future Valentine's Days.
Stitches from the Heart (yet to be named) by Fat Quarter Shop (this one was completed last week)

Kupid's Kisses, Crazy Hearts by Karla Alexander of Cut Loose Press

Cupid's Bow (yet to be named) by Fat Quarter Shop

More of my online shopping arrived that allowed my third project to finish.  This is the back, background, and binding fabrics.  The pattern designer was pretty gracious with fabric requirements.  I almost have enough for a second project.

I'm not sure how long it will take me to get back in the black.  I was good this week and only ordered one FQ bundle of solid pinks from Fat Quarter Shop.  Crazy Hearts project depleted all this particular shade of pinks.

My shopping arrivals this week included a fabric kit for Little 4 Patch.

Kellie Willey of Little Quilt Creations was Sunshine Quilt Guild's guest speaker on Tuesday.  She was really great.  All things miniature.  The Mice Fabric Kit was too cute to pass up.  Kellie does have an online course that you might want to check out on the making of her miniature project.  I also purchased two of her "must have products for miniatures".  The first by Acorn - Easy Precision Piecing Starter Kit and Schmetz 70/10 machine sewing needles.  The needles arrived yesterday and the Acorn product is on its way from Stitchin' Heaven.

No other fabrics arrived, but they have all shipped and should be arriving this week.  I need a BIG project to help get out of the red.

So for my stash report this week all stats change...  Tomorrow I'll be sharing my It's A Mystery project.  Come back and check it out.

Design Wall Monday, February 8, 2021

This is the background for the Crazy Hearts table runner.  The ruler is the Spider Web by Creative Grids.  I like to use specialty rulers more than once.  This will be the third project to use it.  I am about to cut two units that will form the sides of the table runner with this 10" x 11 1/2" rectangle.

The hearts have already been cut out and rotated about.  My project consists of five hearts instead of six.  Six hearts makes it pretty big and Mom has a smaller table.

The cutting of the fabrics leaves quite a bit of scrap.  I'd rather have more like what is in the second photo than the first.  This is however how the pattern comes about.  I will be cutting down the scraps and adding to my scrap bins.

These are parts of the cutting sequence.  The rest of the pieces are cut; border and inner border along with more background pieces.  Time to press, cut, and sew!  Just before stopping for the day this is how my Design Wall looked.

I'll move the border units around a bit to even out the two patterns.  The binding will be the same as the inner border.  I hope to have this one done before Thursday.  How about Kupid's Kisses?

Sunday Stash Report, January 17, 2021

I have the heart done and off to Lorna for Sunshine's BOM January offering.  This one was coordinated by Carolyn.  I started off with just three scraps from my strip stash.  I'm always low on reds.

During the week this FQ bundle arrived from Missouri Star Quilts.  I already have a plan for five of these FQs.  The table runner that unfortunately will not be ready for Valentine's Day this year.  On the bright side it will be early for next year!

Not too much going on this week due to being assistant painter to DH while he painted some parts of the exterior of our home.  We really like how it has turned out.

Adds to my stash this week include the two gray fabrics I already shared with you and these lush reds.  There is still more fabric on the way...I better get something finished soon =^.^=

Krooked Kreek Part 6 is nearly complete.  I got all the string units sewn and trimmed.  Carol Doak's Foundation Paper is still on the back of some units.  It needs to come off before adding the "wings" as Bonnie refers to the corner triangles in neutral for this unit.

Photo of Karla's Project

My next project is a UFO for 2021.  Crazy Hearts table runner by Karla Alexander.  Wow are the instructions a bit hard to follow.  I'll have to follow each step carefully on this one.  It doesn't look too complicated, but the instructions are =^.^=  This project once finished will be another for my parent's table.  Mom loves to put the "holiday" table runners out.

Mom sent me another thoughtful gift.  This one will be added to my 2021 UFO list specifically the Christmas Ornaments UFO.  This one UFO item has lots of ornaments to be sewn.  Most of them are wool kits :)
