Katerskill is complete =^.^=  This is yet another UFO done for this year.  It took a long time to bind this quilt as I wasn't used to much more than small quilts lately.  I am not a fan of white binding, but Katerskill has it.  I have it in my foyer to admire through Memorial Day.

The second Story Book Quilt is complete too.  Remind me that I don't like a flannel binding...please.  It will please some child with its softness, but not my fingers!  I hadn't planned to make two of these quilts; who knows there may be a third some day in the future.

Kolonization is next up.  Time for some machine sewing.  Kathy was generous with her fabrics; now it is time to work with them.  You will see this project for a couple of weeks I am certain.  The stripes will be the next to conquer for these blocks.  First I plan to get the rest of the blue parts of the flags complete.  Kolonization is the last of the 2023-2024 Sunshine UFO Challenge.  It needs to be complete by June's meeting.

October Morning is complete...except I haven't thought yet of a name.  Without a name I can't make a label.  Without a label it doesn't qualify as a 2023-2024 Sunshine Quilters 2023-2024 UFO Challenge completion. :(  I am not going to make a label to satisfy this requirement.  I will just have to hold on to it until an inspiring name comes to mind.

I am working my way around Katerskill still.  It will not be done either to qualify for a UFO completion.  I am not going to make a label when I can get four labels on the expensive paper.  I do have a name though.

The Story Books Quilt and the Truck of the Month July are in a similar situation without labels.  Oh well next month I will have these to claim as complete.  Guess my valent attempts to get these done was a flop =^.^=

Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting is tomorrow.  Hope to land more in the bimonthly fundraiser.  The drawing is tomorrow!  Happy sewing everyone on this Lunar Eclipse Day.

Sunday Stash Report, April 7, 2024

Two UFOs finished and ready for counting on Tuesday night's Sunshine Quilt Guild meeting.  I have another Story Book Quilts and two more Truck of the Month to bind, but they aren't UFOs.  Heads down on the UFOs!

Two more to go.  I will be working on October Morning first because it is the smaller of the two.  Katerskill is a big quilt =^.^=  Not sure I can get it done before going to bed tomorrow night.  I head straight from home to work to guild on Tuesday.  I will bring it one way or another, certainly should be started...

Left Katerskill at home to stitch the binding on when I get back from visiting family.  I hope to get it done before Sunshine Guild meets for April meeting a bit over a week from when I return.  This is a UFO that I want to claim.  There is just one more month in the challenge.  I have a bunch done that just need binding.

Have a wonderful day.

Here's the next UFO to finish.  I have all the pieces cut for three projects.  Two will be gifted.  I will have something to show you on Sunday Stash Report for sure.  There are lots of small pieces, but they should go together fairly quick.

This is Sunshine Quilt Guild February BOM.  Hallie coordinated it; providing us with the pink centers.  Our donation to the project was four white squares and eight pinks.

Sunshine Quilt Guild meeting is tomorrow.  Jo will be providing the how to on wool applique.  We could either bring our own or make from her offering.  Beware It's Halloween has been waiting its turn and since it is a wool project...I plan to take advantage of Jo's expertise.  Beware It's Halloween is a 12 month installment project.  There are eight candy corn blocks of wool on cotton to be made.

These are tools Kerry and I saw at RD2CA.  Kerry has a friend who can get special pricing so we both purchased from her.  Has anyone tried the Magic Pins?  I know I will like the new size ruler.  The blades will work just fine for my smaller cutting needs.  I haven't used the small cutter in a very long time, but I will have it when the time comes.

The mail also brought Katerskill today (along with the tools).  It is awesome!  I love it!  Katerskill is a UFO too.  I will have it bound and finished for next month's Sunshine Quilt Guild meeting.  I will share it with you on Sunday or Monday next week.

See some of you tomorrow and others perhaps later the end of the month.  Until then have wonderful days in your sewing room =^.^= or wherever makes you happy.

Sunbonnet Babies has been cut into 9" squares.  The recipe calls for 3/8" seams!  I guess the kit can be considered "vintage".  Funny enough the recipe didn't lay out instruction for the inner border as it is shown on the cover, but I wanted that look.  The pieces for the blocks were cut just shy of 2" to account a bit for the suggested seams.  The important part is to sew over the blue stamped guide lines that are around each block.  The blue stamped "x" are covered by the floss.  According to the recipe the blue should wash out.  No ironing or the blue is sealed.  Suits me fine as my finger pressing is usually my preferred method LOL.

The multi-colored white strips will be the sashing and outer borders.  This one is getting close to a completion.  I am not sure it will be done before the end of the year.  If it does it will need to be replaced from the 2024 UFO List which is where it currently stands.  Katerskill is going to finish!

I have the Sunshine Quilt Guild Meeting on Tuesday.  Anxious to find out the end result of our craft booth time at Crest Community Center's Craft Fair.  This is also our holiday meeting with all kinds of fun food.  Too bad I am on a restricted diet for a procedure on Thursday :(  I am bringing a pineapple upside down bundt cake for all to enjoy.  I plan to sneak a piece for after the procedure.  It smells and looks awesome!  I will share the fun events that are planned for this year's holiday meeting!

HO HO HO!

Katerskill is assembled into rows.  Next up the rows.  I only need time to do this task.  I wonder if I wish hard enough that Santa Claus will bring me sewing time...wouldn't that be wonderful?  The last row is pinned to the its row above, which is why you see some tips popping above it.  The design calls only for side borders, but I don't like that look.  Mine will have top and bottom borders.  It also finishes with a white binding.  Not sure about a white binding.  I am considering a blue to match the HSTs.  There is some time for this decision.  What would you do?

I am off today to see the American Ballet Company perform the Nutcracker.  This will be a new experience for me.  I am told the Company is one of the best and the Choreographer one of the best also.  I am looking forward to the costumes of course picking up my past talent of making costumes for dancers.

Stash numbers stay the same for now.  Nothing used and nothing brought in.  Hope your week is a grand one =^.^=

All the pieced blocks are assembled now.  It is time next for sewing the blocks into rows.  I hope to get to it this week.  Perhaps there will be a finish this year.  I really like this project, but it is time to move on to the next one.

Meanwhile in my TV comfy chair the Ducks cross stitch work continues with the completion of the second block.  Dancing Duck knows how to strut the stuff!  The third one of this project of 12 starts this week.  Check out the Kite Flying Duck's progress next week.

Happy week everyone =^.^=

Finished the Little Red Truck tree skirt.  With the addition of the outer print border and the "snow" it ended up with a size that worked under the tree.  Kosmo is showing off!

The 2023 Jolly Box arrived from Fat Quarter Quilt Shop.  This box has a cute project that is candy canes with bows.  There will be a need for a background; not so certain I want the suggested denim blue cotton.  The fabric pack is too light for white and there is a lot of red...hmmm.  I have the charm on my purse and the thread ready to use.  The pins and needles will certainly be used.  The last item are holiday potholders; not really my thing.  All in all it was a good mystery box.

This bag of buttons from my Mom (with many of them starting from me) allowed me to make some holiday ornaments.  They will be placed on the tree that will be used at the Crest Craft Fair where Sunshine Quilt Guild will have a booth.

I really like the trees, not so sure about the icicles.  I also donated a few other ornaments to help fill up the tree.  Met up with Kathy on Saturday to pass them off as I will be attending the Nutcracker ballet in Orange County the day of the craft show.

Nothing rotates the numbers this week.  Katerskill continues assembly.

I did put all the blocks together from the HSTs made from the first batch.  Somewhere along the process I lost a HST so more had to be made to continue.

This is the second batch ready to be cut up.  I haven't had much time to work on Katerskill this past week.  Certainly a time when there is all kinds of things to do besides sew.  I hope to get back to this tomorrow.
Did you get started on Bonnie Hunter's Winter Mystery?  I will be pulling and saving the different parts of this one.  I want to concentrate on my UFOs right now.  I still have UFOs 2022 and 2023 yet to complete.  I will be making my project in Bonnie's colors.  My batiks are calling out to be used.  Plan to start with them then hit the rest of my stash.

Have a great last week of November...can you believe it?

Not much yet to share on Katerskill (Blue & White Delight by American Patchwork & Quilting).  This is a re-create of a Vintage Indigo project.  I used one of the three suggested indigo blue fabrics.  All the units are cut and ready to assemble.  This should go quick...the quilting design will probably take longer :)

This shows the layout...easy peasy!
Kauldron is completely done.  A long time overdue.  This is a 2022 UFO that I am very happy to have finished for next Halloween.
This Sunshine BOM for November is coordinated by Pam.  It is called Turkey Track.  Pam gave each of us a FQ that participants were to match up with either a light or a dark.  I chose a dark (brown) to go with the gold (from Pam).  This may be a BOM I want to win!
I'll close with Kassy and Kosmo in their favorite places before the laundry gets sorted for washing.  Kassy comes running when the laundry basket comes out!

Enjoy your week =^.^=

Here's the first of 23 more stars for the Star of Hope project.  It does take some time to assemble just one!

No changes this week to stash.  I'm trying to get in a Christmas tree skirt project so it is looking right now that Star of Hope will take a back seat.  I have also been working on Katerskill that will also take a back seat.  Oh my so much I want to do and so little time!

Design Wall Monday, October 30, 2023

Not on my Design Wall yet, but this will be the next up.  My project will be called Katerskill.  It is from a pattern put out by American Patchwork and Quilting in their August 2021 issue called Blue and White Delight.  It is a re-create of a vintage indigo quilt.  I am using Blue Annabella collection by Renee Nanneman (Andover Fabrics) for the blue and a solid white.  The recipe calls for 280 HSTs so I made the decision to use triangles on a roll paper to make quick work of the piecing.  With two strips of both fabrics nearly half of he HSTs will be made.
Two of the strip sets have already been sewn, cut apart, dog ears trimmed away, and papers pulled away.  The other two strips have been sewn at this stage and ready for the next step.
This is a photo of the soon to finish project.  A simple two color quilt that will finish at 68" x 80".  Hopefully this year I will finish another 2022 UFO.

Have a fun Halloween tomorrow.  =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, March 27, 2022

Krush came out just as I had hoped.  This was my first finish at the retreat in Yuma over the weekend.  I have enough background and reds from the project to make a long pillow to match.  I believe they call them lumbar pillows.  The back is a red with tiny white polka dots.  I'll use the backing for the pillow back also.

This is Turkey Trot.  I have to applique the legs in place and add another border yet.  I turned the turkeys from the original table runner to use it as a wall hanging instead.  I had thought three turkeys, but realized it would be too long.  Took one of the turkeys out to make it a better size for the place I want it to hang.  I will end up putting it on the back with a cute slogan that will be a surprise to you as this project moves along.

Kerry had Kosmic Krisp quilted and I added the binding which is not yet turned and sewn down in this photo.  Another binding project for me.

Besides the little over two yards for Krush's backing this is the damage for the week.  On the left are two FQs and two FEs.  In the middle are eight low volume FQs.  At the top is a cute charm pack that is a retreat gift from Kerry along with the Polish Pottery tea bag holder; it also came with a tea bag.  Finally on the right are two one yard pieces of a stripe one will be for the bias binding Kyushu.  The piece at the back is the background for Katerskill one of my 2022 UFOs.

So there you have my projects and fabric purchases over the week.  I had a blast at the retreat.  Kerry's home in Scottsdale and Bonnie's home in Yuma from Tuesday through Sunday.  Thanks for all your hospitality.  I enjoyed every minute of my visit to your lovely new homes.

Hope your week ahead is a good one =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, June 13, 2021

During the week the final two fabrics that I have been waiting to arrive were delivered.  These will get me finished with the basic top and along with another fabric that came in a week ago get me through the final borders.

In the meantime I've been working on Mistletoe's Ohio Star blocks.  I have 80 of them done now with another 20 to go.  These do go fast and it is sort of mindless sewing.  I just need to make sure my star points don't get lost.

I have also been cutting the blocks for Vintage Christmas.  I have Months 2 thru 6 ready to sew.  Month 7 which arrived this week is waiting for that time between dinner prep and dinner serve to be cut.  Each month there have been six blocks.  I've noticed some deviation from the fabrics received and what is pictured in the instruction.  The fabrics received are the same color family, but a different print.  Not excited by this, but there is little choice on my part.  Don't get me wrong the substitutions aren't that bad.

I also received my monthly American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  It had a quilt project that I wanted to make, Blue and White Delight.  I swiftly purchased one of the blue fabric suggestions, Annabella Blue Star Flower.   Will wait on the white solid fabric until a good sale.  It finds a spot in the queue for making.

So there is some to add this week and more in the negative (red) to Net Used.
