You may have wondered where I've been...  I attended my niece's wedding in Virginia last weekend.  She was a lovely bride.  Here she is with her handsome groom saying "I do".  The hot day only allowed for an even brighter glow as she was adorned in a lovely mermaid style gown.  The tan cowboy boots beneath the gown along with the garter I spoke of making was a real treat to see once she kicked up her heals!  We are a family of crafty talent.  My sister put the flowers together and my sister-in-law designed the picture perfect arch to receive their vows beneath.  Here's her proud father taking her to her future husband.

I have these photos a bit out of order, but I needed to share this smiling beauty as she was about to become a "Mrs".  My sister made all the flower arrangements.  For the most part all were silk flowers to continue to treasure in the future.  The event was held in Luray, Virginia tucked up against the Shenandoah Mountains.  Just beautiful!

Since returning home I have been working on the Aqua/Blue String Block Swap.  It is due on May 22nd.  First I rummaged through all my scraps for strips in the color range.  Happily I had quite a bunch to get going before having to cut into yardage.

I loved working with the colors; so soothing the shades of water.  The unit that can be cut from this horizontal strip block will be used for Bonnie Hunter's design called Straits of Mackinac.  It was a designed brought to us in Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Volume 14.  It is the triangle shown here.  By the way did you know that Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Volume 15 is just now out?  Bonnie has another design in this volume that I'll certainly work...I'll save this for another post :)!

Anyway I'm finished with my units and can't wait to get everyone else's units.  There will be some ziploc bag stuffing today!

I love a swap as it gives you so much variety that you wouldn't usually have.  Unless of course you had as much fabric as Bonnie Hunter seems to own...do you ever hear of her needing any fabric besides neutrals?

For this and last week there were no additions or reductions to be taken from my stash.  I am making a dent in reduction, but not yet ready to take stake any claim.  Check out more of what is going on with other quilters through the links today at Patchwork Times!

I love those turquoise blues too. That would be one quilt of Bonnie's that I wouldn't mind making, but I have myself on a "no new quilt diet" until more of my UFOs are finished. I love string pieced blocks in any colors.

Yes, the wedding was beautiful (except for the heat), everything went well. I am one proud grandmother. Hope all her dreams of married life come true. It is a blessed time when a mother can have all her children in one place, even if it is for a short time.
I like the blue string blocks, that will become a lovely quilt.
