Sunday Stash Report, April 11, 2021

Koney 2 is finished.  Just at 27" x 29" it will be perfect for the desk nook in the kitchen.  Not sure what I'll use for a binding right now.  His fuzzy little tail is just 3 1/2" round.  This tail won't get quite the attention as Greyson has been spending with his Easter quilt.

Greyson's quilt didn't get there until a day after Easter, but I suppose he doesn't really know yet what day Easter came this year.

I also finished the second Tractor quilt.  This one is made to replace the first quilt that sadly was lost in a house fire.  The little guy who is six now missed his special quilt so much that he shed many tears about it being gone.  Several wonderful folks have come together to gift him this Tractor quilt.  Thanks to the loving hearts of Mom, Dru (Primitive Gatherings), and Kerry for helping me to make this gift of love.  Kerry will have it next for quilting.  Binding next for me and soon there won't be any more tears.

When Kerry was here we discussed that I might not have enough florals to make the April Sunshine Quilt Guild BOM.  Florals just aren't that abundant in my stash.  Kerry mentioned she would send me some.  Well she sent me enough to make two and then some.  Turns out in my scraps I was able to scrape up enough for another and before long I had made four.  If I win these blocks, chances are good with four entries, a scallop border is planned.  I might add a bit of lace to the border too.

The mail brought me many fine things this week.  Fat Quarters Shop, BellaRoseQuilts, and Stitchin Heaven had these items until they were delivered to my door!

Sunday Stash Report, April 4, 2021

Happy Easter!  Here's a finish with a springtime flair :)  Kanary is all set for quilting!  I'm on track for being able to get this one to Texas for Cara's Baby Shower for Emma on April 24th.

Kerry is in town and we met up at Rosie's Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop on Friday.  I continued to drain my wallet.  I purchased a whole host of fabrics and a couple of goodies.  These two fabrics are for Kanary.  The top piece for the back and the bottom for the binding.  I didn't want a white fabric for either parts of the quilt because it is for an infant and needs to be forgiving.

Before I go into more purchases from my shopping spree with Kerry...  I treated myself to a new machine on Thursday.  The Phaff I had been using was a Professional 5.0.  I'd had it since 2015 and you know how much I sew.  It was definitely time, especially after a careless meeting of needle to point of a scissors.  This is the cremedelacreme of a quilters machine.  I need the insert to use in my Koala cabinet that is to be part of the deal along with the Professional 5.0 being a trade-in.  So for now I'm using the 5.0 and the ICON is waiting to start its time with me.

Back to my Rosie's spree...  Picked up a wide back (at 15% off) and the binding for my Kandy Katz project.  I will be putting cutting the stripe at a diagonal to keep the fun going with this project.

Friday is Rosie's special deal off FQs so these three came home with me to use in Winter Blues by Bonnie Hunter.  I'm just now starting the collection of fabrics for this project.

I need to get quite a bit more of the Secret Stash fabric collection by Laundry Basket Quilts to complete the fabric requirements for Secret Stash.  I've been adding in the neutrals to reach free shipping requirements for my online purchases.  There's two heading my way right now.  I'll be looking for a good deal on the FQ bundles of the Neutral and Warm colors.

This sweet neutral came home too.  There should be enough for a background.  My only fabric purchase enhancement that is just because :)

Earlier in the week I was excited to see a sample of this project called Hocus Pocus.  I found the kit on ETSY from Bella Rose Quilts at a great price.  I don't have it yet, but this is expected in during the week.

I should also be receiving the backing for the tractor quilt and another of the patterns that use the All Hallow's Eve fabric collection called Pumpkin Trio.  And now I'm on the hunt for more of this fabric to make Witch's Night Out another using the All Hallow's Eve collection.  Yes I do like the collection =^.^=  So all said and done I have a fairly good size to report as used in Kanary and a huge size to claim as purchased.  As you can read though...there are plans to use it all with only one frivolous purchase.

I'm away to the sewing room to make progress on my bunny project which is yet again a bit smaller than the original project for Greyson pictured above.  Koney 2 will be ready for my Easter 2022.  Hope your Easter basket is as full as mine has been this week!

I had a fabulous day with Kerry on Friday.  We shopped at Rosie's for several hours and enjoyed a lunch at the Brigantine.  She's here for visit and I'm so happy to have had part of it on Friday.

Springtime Bunnies finished this week.  I love it!  It was such a fun pattern to put together.  I found a white with blue flowers fabric for the back that works well with the project.  Mom will likely have this in time for her Easter Decorations.  Another and the last table runner I have collected for her table.  I think all the other holidays are taken care of...Mom is there a holiday you need one for yet?

Kupid's Kurtsy and
Kupid's Kurtsy 2
I have been stitching the binding down on the three projects above.  I ordered and received from Primitive Gatherings 12 Binding Needles that will be used for the first time on these projects.  The first Kupid's Kurtsy is my guinea pig =^.^=

The needles are much longer than I have ever used except for a beading project.  The eye is rather tiny, but my hummingbird threader gets to be used which usually just sits in my binding pouch.  The needles are strong, so I don't feel that they bend.  They may be a winner if I can get used to the length of them.

I did get the green wool special for the month from Midway Wool.  No particular plans for them, but could come in to use for more variety as the Ornaments of #4 2021 UFO gets worked.

You all are well aware of my sock fetish...  Kerry is and sent me these cute ones to wear this month and especially this week as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  I already have my crock pot Stout Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Veggies recipe and all the ingredients ready for Wednesday.  I'll be wearing my socks =^.^=  Thank you Kerry.

So you may remember I have been trying to match the green of the John Deere panel for a second tractor quilt.  These were the contestants...and the winner is...

Jungle green by Kona.  Primitive Gatherings helped with this sending samples of the four for me to pick the best.  Two yards was ordered and received that will allow me to get this project under the rotary cutter and the needle of my Phaff.  I'm anxious to make a little boy happy again with a new tractor quilt.  More on this one to project to come.

I will be cutting between all the hand binding this week.  The Candy Cat project is being kick started to my Design Wall.  Sunny Side Up that will be a gift for an April  Baby Shower will get started along with Cinnamon Spice.  Wow don't I have high expectations for this week ahead.  Not too bad a week a little used and a little gained.

Sunday Stash Report, February 28, 2021

This past week saw the arrival of two fabric packages.  One from Fat Quarter Quilt Shop; the pretty pink FQ bundle that will be used to replenish my pinks in these shades.

The second was from Fabric.com.  The fabrics were purchased to coordinate with a John Deere panel.  The yellow will work, but the green is just too dark and has a blue cast to it.  This is one of the problems with online shopping.  I have samples of the green coming from Primitive Gatherings Temecula.  It is "in the mail as of Thursday".  Still waiting =^.^=

Most of this week was taken up hand sewing.  There was one evening cutting the last of my Sunshine Challenge projects that still needs sewing.  I'm ahead on the challenge, this one is a charity quilt from a pattern called Star Struck by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilts.  Check back tomorrow for progress on the project.

Until next time - Sandi
