These two projects are done.  Soon they will be on their way to Mom.  We both took a workshop late last year with my Mom's sewing guild, Quilters by the Bay.  The one below could be used for either a table runner or a wall hanging.  The technique is similar to a bulls eye, but instead flowers.  In browsing the internet I learned they are called French roses.  HERE is a link to several on Pinterest if you are interested.
I have been referring to them as Sunflowers because of the fabric that was used.  Kerry did a wonderful job with the quilting.  It allows them to ravel, but just enough since she stitched around each layer of the flower (there are four).  Stipple in the background and a nice flower pattern in the borders.
It is difficult to see the ravel, but after one wash with a pair of flip flops (Mom's suggestion) along with 20 minutes in the dryer there is a ravel!

Those are very cheerful little pieces. I have seen that technique, but have never tried it. Part of the trick is to have a good quilter, which you do!
