Hope your special someone has something for you today or perhaps on the weekend when it won't be so crowded. I heard that this past weekend was part of the celebration too. Ours will be next weekend to one of my favorite places, Peohe's located on Coronado Island just outside downtown San Diego. Right on the water, the view is extraordinary. Wonder what fabulous specials they'll be serving next week...
On my Design Wall this fine day is Komet. Komet is a design by Bonnie Hunter called Star Struck. This is the lap quilt size--so uncommon of Bonnie. I've got the middle assembled. I do really like how the hot pink accent adds a sparkle. Did I mention that this pink is a first time dye project for me?
For the next few days I will be putting together the pieces of the border. I will continue using the same Bali Pop Butterscotch strips along with the neutrals. They will be the same element as in the star. I will only be using the dark rectangle and the light triangle. The pieced border will be separated from the middle with an inner border. Any suggestions for what color this should be? I am thinking that the hot pink would overwhelm it...help me out here followers.

This colorway is just fabulous!
My suggestion for the border would be a small border from pink and neutrals, and a wider one with the brown. Im my opinion this will ground it, and keep it alive!
Nothin gbeats Bonnie's patterns!

To be "safe looking" you might consider the caramel color - as for me and mine, I would use the pink. I am really loving the pop of the brighter colors these days.Love this Star Struck quilt, i.e. Komet - Judy C
If you make the pink border really thin, it shouldn't overwhelm the quilt...especially if you have a larger caramel colored pieced border on the outside.
Your colors are beautiful and what a great pattern!
In the past I have not appreciated browns, but this coloring is wonderful. You might want to make a "stop" border of the pink, very narrow, then stay with the browns for a full border. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be beautiful, because is sure is beautiful now!
Oh that is a wonderful top!
I think a small pink border would be great then use your other fabrics for the rest of the borders
but you know what you like best and that's the only opinion that matters.
Very nice. Is it greens in the middles, kind of hard to tell in the picture. I am looking forward to October when bonnie will be here, maybe you could come visit your mom then!!

Hey Kathie, that is a great idea, come visit your mom.... I like what colors you have put together to make this quilt. Really nice.
Sandi, I see some muted oranges in some of the patterned brown fabrics: how about a not-so-bright orange? I think it would add interest for your inner border, yet it would still be "contained" by the more muted outer border. I would def. stay in the warmer colors, though; I thought about green for a sec, but nooooo!
Hugs,
Tina
