Sunday Stash Report, March 2, 2025

I had the entire top together this morning and ready to brave cutting the tips off.  It is always a tricky part for me.

With the tips off, the next parts were adding the three borders.  This took longer to pin than to sew!  I am thrilled to have Kirilowii finished.  A 2024 UFO complete =^.^=  I will share a photo in tomorrow's post when the light is better.  I love it!

This past Friday I attended an Accuquilt Club event at Quilt In A Day in San Marcos.  This is a monthly event falling on the fourth Friday of every month.  I wanted to learn how to cut strips that would result in stripes cut on a diagonal for binding.  I took advantage of the nice discount offered with Club membership, purchasing the Die Catcher (separate piece to the left of the machine above, under the periodical).  I also used the discount to purchase a 1.5" strip die.  When it is back in stock a 3.5" strip die will be a future purchase.

Now I know!  It is all in how you fold the fabric.  I haven't checked yet, but the Quilt In A Day records these events and I'm told the instruction will be available after it is edited.  Check Quilt In A Day if you are interested in learning more.

This cutter came home with me too (and a second one for Kerry's Birthday gift that is right around the corner).  Nothing like I have seen before, but maybe it was available at Road to California this year.  It is made by Sew Be It Quilts called Quilter's Sidelock.  They can explain it better than me.

These three fabrics also came home with me.  The first two dark blues were purchased for the #2 border of Kirilowii.  I ended up using the one on the top and there may be just have enough for the binding.  If not the second piece will work.  The next fabric is for the background of Millie's Dresses project.  I had hoped to pick up some 30's fabrics, but Quilt In A Day isn't strong on that theme.  I'll be heading to the internet :)  The last will be for popcorn bags.  I have some popcorn fabric and a neighbor who is a gardener.  Mom has been helping me with making the popcorn bags.  There is more to share from my Quilt In A Day excursion so coming back tomorrow to see more and Kirilowii complete.
