Have a fun day today!  Costumed children will be roaming the streets...do be careful =^.^=

The first of nine blocks for Knikknakk are sewn.  The second one is a bit busier than the first.  They are all different with the exception of fabrics.  I'm using the same bright ones.  Red sashing will tie them all together.  The green print that is most noticeable in the second block on it's far right will be the outside border.

I will be working on Block 3 tonight after 8pm!  Enjoy your hallowed evening =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 30, 2016

This week a finish to report.  Love these weeks to be able to say this =^.^=.  The camera doesn't give Karduus enough credit.  The colors don't seem to ring true no matter what time of day I try.  Next is a closeup that might give you a better look.  The solid blocks above don't really look as much out of place when you see it first hand.  Perhaps this closer shot will help convince you.  The darker part in the top left is my shadow :)....

Those that know me realize I don't slow down in my sewing.  From the light shades of Karduus to the bright bolds of Knikknakk which I might add most of you know me to work with.  Suppose I don't disappoint.

This is Block 1 of Hopscotch by Janelle Noack of Country Matters.  There are nine blocks with the entire project finishing 70" x 70".  I won the set of 10 BOM patterns during the 2012 100 Block Quiltmaker Blog Hop.  Janelle is from Australia and had a block featured in that issue.  These are the fabrics I will be using.

I may get another red, orange, and yellow but then perhaps I will make myself use what I have.  Most of these fabrics came from Rosie's.  The yellow/green/star stripe on the left will also be used for the back.  I found it in the sale room...you should go in there, you never know what might work out for the markdown prices.

Want to get into my sewing room to work on Block 2.  The laundry is working and football is about to start.  Enjoy week 45 of 2016!  Be good to the Trick or Treaters and turn off the lights at 8pm...all the little ones should be tucked in bed by then :).

All the parts of Karduus are finished along with the layout.  I have started to assemble the diagonal rows.  There is tonight for that.

I spent my day watching football.  Yippee the Chargers were able to pull off a win!  We were holding are breath during most of the game.  The last game of the day was by far the oddest.  Not one but two muffed field goals that left the game in a tie.  Couldn't believe the second muffed field goal...

I was busy during the games stitching down the binding and sleeve on the 2016 Nov/Dec Bimonthly Opportunity Quilt for Sunshine Quilt Guild.  A label will finish it completely.  Nice to be ahead of schedule.

Anxious to have Monday behind =^.^= of course I wouldn't be saying this if I were at home sewing...  Enjoy your week.

Sunday Stash Report, October 23, 2016

The only finish I can talk about this week is the Sunshine Quilt Guild November BOM.  We were supplied the neutral for this Bento Box design.  A Batik in Fall themed fabrics from our stash.  Not much to claim so I won't =^.^=

A trip to Rosie's was on Saturday.  I needed a couple of neutral for the setting triangles and several of the solid blocks to complete the top of Karduus.  The orange/salmon will be used for the binding.  There are no borders for this one.  I did look for a large back, but no success.  It is a rather large project finishing 67" x 82".  I have time yet to shop around.

Knikknak is next to stitch.  This one is October UFO.  I spent my entire Birthday gift from my Sister on this project and then sum :)!  The stack on the left are the "staples" of the project.  From the top borders, binding and blocks, background of blocks, sashing and blocks, finally back and blocks.  The stack on the right are all for blocks.  I have a couple from my stash to add in as well.  The project finishes at 70" x 70".

Without further ado the damage all done on Saturday...

Today is one of those fabulous Fridays...a day off!  Not only that but a finish to share.  Kayenne is displayed in a prominent place in my home.  Isn't it gorgeous, of course no bias at all on my part =^.^=

Here are a few close ups of the design.  I'm not so good at capturing the fabulous quilting Kerry pulls off.  The quilting design is perfect for it; Sparks.  It is sort of in the noise of the quilt since it is so busy already. Even the name goes along with the elongated New York Beauties from Valori Wells pattern called High Dessert Paprika.

Today I am back to Karduus.  I have all the strip sets cut into the units needed for making the nine-patches.  Shouldn't take much time to have them assembled.  Look for my progress on Sunday when I post next about what's happening in my sewing room.

A special Happy Birthday Helen!  Wishing you one of the happiest days of the year...

Carduus
Karduus Fabrics

This is my Karduus.  The start of my next project that is a 2016 UFO.  I plan to use soft batiks in colors of the desert.  The pattern calls for one background fabric, but being the scrappy one mine will use several fabrics in similar shade.  I will be experimenting a bit with a few darker batiks still in desert colors.  The sewing is in the strip set style.  Excitement for me in using many of the strips that come in the strip sets that just don't seem to work due to their colors.  You know those not quite this coloring and not quite that coloring.

Karduus Start

The first nine-patches to be sewn were real light.  The camera couldn't even figure out how to adjust the colors :).

Desert Nine-Patch Pattern

The 6 1/2" blocks will be set on point with a solid block between them.  There should be around ten different desert colored fabrics and as many background neutrals that I can find in my stash.  I would very pleased to get all the fabrics from my stash, but so far I have added in a bit of salmon.  Having to purchase a bit of yardage for the setting triangles might be necessary too.

Sunday Stash Report, October 16, 2016

It is nice to have a finish this 43rd week of 2016.  Kloggs took a bit of time to finish, but mainly because of its size.  A whopping 102" x 120".  A trip to Beverly's Fabrics along with a very nice 30% discount brings the back to the sewing table for piecing.  This one is ready for Kerry's Quilting...  Happy dance going on =^.^=
I won't be adding in the 11 yards (oh my) since I would be taking it right off my statistics.  I will need to add in these last two purchases though.  One from the "Fall" themed table at Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly this past Tuesday.  What a steal to find this all too cute Halloween fabric.
The second purchase goes towards the making of Karduus.  I had hoped to find more of the salmon colored fabric pictured in the middle.  Not too worried about that though as I probably have all I need for this project.  Karduus is the next one on the sewing table and design wall.  It is also a 2016 UFO.  More on that tomorrow when I have several of the nine-patch blocks assembled.  This one will come together fast, don't blink :)
For this week a nice change...

Some of you are lucky to have today off, but not me :(  I have a full five day week ahead.  I am pretty sure that Kloggs will see a finish this week!
Kloggs (top section)
Kloggs (bottom section)
I have the black outer border to sew in place and this project will be ready for quilting.  My Sister sounds pretty excited about this quilt becoming hers.  That puts a smile to my face :)
Kayenne
You may remember Kayenne that I finished earlier this year.  Kerry finished the quilting.  I picked it up Friday and trimmed it down on Sunday.  It will take nine WOW strips to get around this one.  I have a gold fabric picked out for the binding.  Lots of stitching time ahead for me.

Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting is tomorrow night.  Enjoy your week!

Sunday Stash Report, October 9, 2016

Besides working on Kloggs most of this past week there has been a few other things under the needle.

Anita with Sunshine Quilt Guild had us make this cute block design in Halloween fabrics.  Of course a 'kat" had to be in my fabric.  Anita supplied us with the yellow and gray fabrics.  I have seen a few of the completed blocks made by other members which are all quite cute.  I would be happy if my name were drawn to win all the blocks.

Kerry and I finished the top for the 2016 November/December Bimonthly Sunshine Quilt Guild Opportunity Quilt.  Kerry will be quilting it sometime this week so that we will be ready for ticket selling at the November meeting.  We will be splitting the fabric from stash since we took from both of ours.  That's the used for this week.

October 5, 2016

I love to celebrate...today is a good day to do it too!  It's my Birthday as one of my birthday cards says.  Of course it is one of those singing cards that has a rap style song with cats in the choir.  Cheesecake and a cupcake were my goodies.  Thanks for all the Facebook wishes and along with cards and goodies that are still to come.

DH brought home dinner, in part because I claimed I wasn't cooking or picking up dinner on my way home.  We had Mexican carry out, which was fine for a middle of the work week meal.  We will be dining out in style on Friday with friends.  Best yet I get to select the place.

UFO coordinator Marti let us know that for October we are to work on #7.  That makes three UFOs that I need to catch up on before the end of the month to get caught up.  I'm close on #6 Kloggs.  Not started on #3 Kardus except pulling fabric.  Kardus still needs a background to be acquired.  Now I have #7 Knikknakk.  Wow do I have a lot of stitching to accomplish this month!  Speaking of sewing I best get my Pfaff going =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, October 3, 2016

So happy to see how Kloggs is looking...finally.  As you can see this is just a corner of this king sized project.  I haven't started assembly yet.  I hope to make progress on it tonight while watching Dancing With The Stars.

These units are what will fill in the other three corners.  All of these units are sewn and trimmed.  Ready for some wall space to make sure the colors work together throughout the quilt.

That inside sashing that I worked on today after work only needs the corners trimmed away...yes I did make bonus HSTs :)

These two are sewn now.  The two different units of the outside border.

Give me some hours all to Kloggs and this project will be put together in no time.  Not too much left of my Monday...  It is a short work week for me; just maybe Friday will be some uninterrupted sewing.  One can only hope =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 2, 2016

Kerry and I have been working on November/December 2016 Sunshine Quilt Guild's Bimonthly Opportunity Quilt.  We have combined some of our group swap projects to have enough of the right colors to make a Christmas Wall Hanging.  Not sure what the size will be yet.

These are three of the blocks that will be a total of 16.

Saturday we sewed most of the blocks and played around a bit with sashing, corner stones and outside border.  As you can see all the blocks were not sewn before we started playing around.  Things might change still!

I finished the binding on my Halloween gift to Luke and Logan.  It will be in the mail tomorrow.

Nothing to change my stats this week.  I am still working on Kloggs; see more tomorrow on my UFO project.  Enjoy our first week of October =^.^=
